About the role:
The Packaging Regulatory Manager oversees the packaging legislation and any relevant regulation on the Food Contact Materials. He ensures Barry Callebaut has all the information to apply and operate in compliance to regulatory requirements in the respective country/countries.  Monitors the relevant regulations, tracks and ensures the emerging regulations are captured and communicated, carries out impact assessment, and initiates/participates in change management whenever applicable. The incumbent represents the interests of the Company in the relevant industry association.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with local and international packaging regulations and standards.
  • Engage in effective communication and collaboration with global and regional stakeholders to align regulatory activities with the organization's business objectives. 
  • Conduct thorough reviews of packaging materials to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate and work closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, operating sites, GSQ, etc. to align regulatory activities with business objectives and to develop packaging solutions that meet regulatory requirements.
  • Stay up-to-date on changes in packaging regulations and communicate updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory documentation and filings related to packaging compliance.
  • Interface with regulatory agencies as needed and manage regulatory submissions.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions on packaging regulatory requirements for internal stakeholders.
  • Represent the interest of the company externally. 

 

About you:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree, preferably in regulatory or chemical Engineering, or food engineering, or related fields.
  • Min 3 years of experience in confirming the compliance of products with the requirements of the technical regulations in the food industry.
  • Solid knowledge of the regulations applicable to packaging and chemicals used in foods and food packaging across the globe. 
  • Development of regulatory and technical documentation.
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written) is required. Any additional language is preferred. 
  • Basic Knowledge in HACCP, Audit process, and Food Quality Assurance.
  • Readiness for occasional short business trips/travels
  • Experience of interaction with scientific research institutes and associations of food producers.
  • Able to challenge technical arguments.
  • Able to work well under pressure, and be diplomatic.
  • Good interpersonal and negotiating skills.
  • Good communication and influencing skills. 
  • Confidence in explaining and presenting complex regulatory requirements to senior internal stakeholders.
  • Able to work proactively, possess a can-do attitude, and a result-oriented mindset.
